Cayman Expects About 500 New Bedrooms From Two 2026 Hotel Openings

8,475 bedrooms in the 2025 inventory; 119 bedrooms added during the year; approximately 500 more expected from two 2026 openings; 40,015 May 2026 stayover visitors; 61.3% hotel occupancy reported for May.

The 2025 increase did not come mainly from conventional hotels; it came from condos and villas entering short-term rental. That distinction matters operationally because an owner, property manager and transient guest can all require different credentials around the same building.

The 2026 hotel openings add a second commissioning task at larger scale. The official report names the developments and room outlook but does not disclose their access systems or imply that CaribbeanRFID supplies them.

A later government report counted 40,015 stayover visitors in May 2026, 16.5% above May 2025, and hotel occupancy of 61.3%. That provides demand context for the added inventory without proving any particular procurement need.

Cayman's inventory data identifies a real structural difference: the latest completed growth came from condos and villas, while the next stated block of growth comes from two hotels. The electronic credential may look similar at check-in, but the owner, rental-manager and transient-guest relationships behind it are not similar.

The record May visitation figure adds demand context without changing that distinction. Higher occupancy does not decide the card material or frequency; it increases the importance of having tested opening stock and a repeatable replacement record.

An owner credential may remain active for years; a guest card turns over around stays. A pool or gym wristband can serve owners and guests only when issue, retention, cleaning, loss and cancellation are defined. Silicone can fit wet use; textile or bead formats need their own comfort and retention review. A permanent wearable is wrong when it can be transferred freely or no one owns lost-item cancellation.

Treating a retained owner credential as ordinary hotel checkout stock is wrong even when both read on the same property system.
