RPVC (Recycled PVC) hotel keycards are the lowest-barrier entry point for Caribbean and Latin American properties beginning their credential sustainability programme. They are manufactured with 30–80% post-consumer recycled PVC content — plastic that would otherwise enter the waste stream, diverted and repurposed into a functional credential product.

The operational case for RPVC is straightforward: the card is functionally identical to a conventional virgin PVC keycard. It has the same CR80 dimensions (85.6 × 54 mm, 0.76 mm thickness), encodes on the same front desk encoding equipment, and is readable by all standard MIFARE-compatible hotel lock readers. The recycled PVC substrate performs identically to virgin PVC from the lock reader's perspective — it reads the MIFARE chip data, not the card material. No operational changes are required.

What RPVC Means for Carbon Footprint

Recycled PVC production requires significantly less energy than virgin PVC production, as it bypasses the petrochemical refining and polymerisation steps required to produce PVC from raw petroleum feedstocks. Life cycle assessment (LCA) studies consistently show a 30–50% reduction in embodied carbon per kilogram of recycled PVC compared to virgin PVC. REACH and RoHS Compliance

Full Lock System Compatibility

RPVC keycards are fully compatible with all major hotel lock systems. Caribbean RFID offers RPVC keycards with MIFARE Classic 1K, DESFire EV2, and DESFire EV3 chip configurations to match your lock system. The recycled substrate has no effect on RFID read range or reliability. RPVC keycards encode on your existing front desk encoding equipment without any configuration changes.

Print and Branding Quality

RPVC keycards support full-colour CMYK digital or offset printing on both card faces, with matte or gloss laminate finish options. Print quality is indistinguishable from conventional virgin PVC keycards. The card surface accepts the same inks and laminate films used in standard hotel keycard printing. Custom artwork, logo, and room number printing are all supported using your property's existing keycard artwork files.
